1. Is the 20 day trial the full program or a “dummied down” version?
The 20 day trial is the full version of MyClassroomHelper with the exception of home page & interface customization. This gives you unlimited opportunity to set up your classes, input your students, and utilize the program to its fullest extent. The trial account does limit you to 500MB of disk space on our servers, and does not allow you to customize the interface. Feel free to set your class up, collaborate with your students, and have them establish their portfolios. Should you elect to purchase MyClassroomHelper, we will transfer your test account onto a production server where you will be able to customize the interface for your school, so you don’t have to start all over again.

2. What do we need to run your program? Do I have to download anything?
MyClassroomHelper is a web-based Application Service Provider (ASP) program that only requires a web-browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla running on Windows, Macintosh, or Linux operating systems. This means you have nothing to download, and very little set-up and maintenance. Your website, specific to your school, is accessed through the Internet from school, work, or home via a secure login name and password.

3. Where are the teacher and student files kept? Are they secure?
A connection to the Internet is required to logon to your school website. This is where the program is located. There are two choices for file hosting (where you want to store all your notes, assignments, journal entries, and student portfolio projects). You may either elect to host the files on your own school server or you may elect to have MyClassroomHelper host them for you.

School Server – This may the most cost effective option because you may not be charged for file space on the school server. However, due to school firewalls and data security issues, it is possible that students may not be able to access their work outside of the classroom (from home) and you also risk the possibility of data loss.

MyClassroomHelper Server
– This is the most expedient way to deploy MyClassroomHelper and offers the best assurances of data integrity. The servers utilized by MyClassroomHelper offer piece of mind that your content is safe, secure, and accessible 24x7 from school, home, or wherever there is an Internet connection. We perform daily site backups. We use multiple firewall layers to ensure a hack-proven highly secure hosting experience. Click Here for more information on our servers.

5. Can students create and post their own Internet site through MyClassroomHelper's Classroom Management Software?
MyClassroomHelper does have this functionality but the teachers who contributed to its design did not desire to turn every student into a Webmaster. [There are separate, feature-rich programs that do only that. Quite frankly, we believe that school lunch menus and sports schedules belong on the SCHOOL website, which you can link to from our sign-in page.] In most cases, posting student information on the web requires permissions, waivers, and the need to address other legal and privacy concerns that vary from state to state.
MyClassroomHelper’s primary goal is to provide an affordable, user-centric, easy to deploy tool for teachers – students – parents to communicate about curriculum (standards), performance, and assessment issues.

6. What type of access is there for the student educational portfolio?
Students may download and store their educational portfolios offline at any time. Teachers will only be able to see those articles in the educational portfolio that were added from their class. Portfolio mentors will have access to all student files in their portfolio.
